Fresh Word – Fret – May 13, 2026 – Evangelist Pastor Barbara
You do not know the end from the beginning, so why do you fret so? You say you give me full control over your lives, yet you still fret. Something is wrong with this picture. Either I am in control of your lives, or I am not, which is it?
You provoke me to anger when you live this type of lifestyle. If I have spoken it, it shall come to pass. If I did not, it will not come to pass, so why fret at all? Jeremiah 7:19 KJV
You walk around saying I am a warrior of the Most High God. Warriors do not fret. They are mature, strong, full of faith, and never question their leader. Either I am your leader, or I am not. Which is it? It cannot be both ways. One day you lead, and the next day you allow Me to lead.
Come out from among those who fret, and be a true warrior for the Father of all lights. I am encouraging you to allow Me to lead and for you to follow. This walk with Me will only work as you allow Me to lead continually without you fretting.
In the Bible, “fret” often signifies anxiety, worry, or inner agitation that can distract believers from faith and peace. It is associated with emotional unrest and can lead to negative behaviors such as envy, anger, or poor decision-making (Psalm 37:1-8, Proverbs 24:19-20). The Hebrew word behind “fret” can also imply being “kindled” with anger or distress, highlighting the intensity of the emotional state.
Philippians 4:6
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Isaiah 41:10
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Psalm 55:22
“Cast your cares on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”
God’s Assurance
As we face different challenges in life, we find comfort in knowing that God provides assurance in His word. His constant reminders that He is always with us can help alleviate our fears. When we are confronted with troubling thoughts that provoke fretting, we can find solace in trusting God’s plan for our lives. He has laid out a path for us that can ease our minds and replace our worries with hope. By recognizing our need for His guidance, we can rest assured that we are not alone in our struggles.
Jeremiah 7:19 KJV “Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?” indicates that God is questioning whether the people are causing their own confusion and anger.
This reflects a biblical theme in which God observes human actions and their consequences, emphasizing that individuals’ actions can lead to divine retribution. The verse is part of a larger context in which God expresses anger at the people for their disobedience and idolatry.
