Dear Saints,
Sometimes we take on a case where the details are so repulsive it sickens me to write to you about it, and unfortunately, today is one of those days.
You see, in Dos Pueblos High School in California, an obscene image disgustingly known as “P*ss Chr*st” has been used in one of their classes required for an International Baccalaureate Diploma.
The school promoted this image to students as an example of “art”—which you and I both know doesn’t belong in any school curriculum!
The obscene and offensive photograph, which depicts a Crucifix immersed in a vat of urine, created widespread public outrage over 30 years ago when it was revealed that it was created under a grant provided by the taxpayer-funded National Endowment for the Arts.
This sacrilege is what public schools are glorifying to children in the classroom—and they’re doing it using your tax dollars.
Parents and students at Dos Pueblos High School were rightfully outraged that this terrible image was used under the guise of “education,” and they called us for help. Our Thomas More Society stepped in because if we let this happen in one school, it will spread to other schools across the country—not just in the state of California!
But that leads me to the good news. After we threatened legal action, the Santa Barbara Unified School District backed down from using the image.
Truly this response couldn’t have come a moment too soon.
It’s simply wrong to force Christian public school students to study and engage with blasphemy mocking Our Lord as if it were a real, valuable piece of artwork.
While the secular Left insists on the separation of church and state, they elevate sacrilegious imagery as examples of “art.” They just want us as far removed from God and morality as possible, even to the point of openly promoting sacrilege.
I am heartened by the comments of one of the students at Dos Pueblos High School about our recent victory:
