Join NFAB in prayer for the 100,000 people caught in the ring of fire in Los Angeles. Please pray over Psalms 107, “They cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distress. He calms the storm, and makes the waves still. We lift up the firefighters and first responders and ask God to protect them and fill them with peace as they respond to this devastation.

Also this week we note that President Donald Trump was certified to become President, as well as Mike Johnson’s re-election to Speaker of the House. We know people of faith will have a voice to impact policy in our country thanks to both of these leaders.

Speaker Johnson Re-Elected and the House Passes “Laken Riley Act”

• In one of his first actions since being re-elected, Speaker Johnson presided over the passage of the “Laken Riley Act,” named in honor of a 22 year old Georgia nursing student who was killed by an illegal immigrant.

• The legislation would require federal officials to arrest illegal immigrants who have been charged with theft-related crimes in the United States.

• Speaker Johnson provided that powerful reminder that voters “demanded secure borders, the deportation of violent illegal aliens, and laws that put the safety and security of the American people first.”

• The measure passed with 216 Republicans and 48 Democrats in support.
