If the Left retains their stronghold on education, America’s fate is sealed.

Freedom will die, and we’ll have nowhere to go.

Just look at the midterms. Generation Z voted for socialism and slavery – because for over a decade, their “teachers” have sold it to them as equality and liberation.

We can’t take back our country without taking back our schools.

We must empower parents across the nation to challenge school boards and education bureaucracy indoctrinating our children with Marxist dogma like Critical Race Theory… while ignoring the overwhelming scientific evidence that says our schools should be open and there is no need for children to wear masks.

You know our driving principle, the thing that sets us apart from so many other conservative groups. Our goal is not to “put up a good fight,” but to win.

Here at the Center, we know there is a plan behind every move the left makes. There is an agenda and a timetable. There is abundant funding. The leadership comes not from one leftist group, but from the carefully coordinated efforts of networks of the left.

“The 1619 Project” began as a collection of work whose unifying theme is the claim that America is a racist nation that was born with the original sin of slavery and can never be redeemed.

The Project was the brainchild of Nikole Hannah-Jones, a 43-year-old black nationalist employed as a staff writer at The New York Times. The 1619 Project is an expression of Hannah-Jones’s visceral hatred for America and for white people.

And now her poisonous ideology has become required reading in classes across our country.

Our public schools have traditionally been the cornerstone of democratic values, teaching students how to think, not what to think. But in recent years, these most important institutions of instruction have been subverted by left-wing radicals.

Today’s K-12 classroom is a war zone.

The left has used its control of teachers’ unions, teacher training schools in the universities, and textbook publishing to create an indoctrination machine, brainwashing students as young as 5 with “correct thinking” on subjects ranging from the “fluidity” of gender to the evils of “Islamophobia” and the coming man-made Armageddon of climate change.

To combat this onslaught, the David Horowitz Freedom Center initiated the Stop K-12 Indoctrination campaign.

Its centerpiece is a Code of Ethics that works, in collaboration with state legislators, to forbid teachers from using the classroom to advance an ideological agenda. Its flagship publication is a weekly newsletter, under the editorship of Sara Dogan, that reports from the educational battlefront.

Several years ago, Virginia State Delegate Dave La Rock introduced HJ 117, a bill to establish a code of ethics and professional responsibility in Virginia public schools. We worked very closely with Delegate La Rock.

Now, just this year, another Virginia House of Delegates Member, John Avoli, introduced HB 1126: The Parents Bill of Rights. This proposed bill was inspired by the work of the Freedom Center and is very much in line with our K-12 Code of Ethics.

With your help, we will continue to collaborate closely with the Virginia Delegates – as well as local leaders – in a growing list of additional states that are also working to enact similar legislative measures.

But our work won’t stop with K-12 schools.

Next year, our Campus Campaign must be more equipped than ever before to fight against the disappearance of academic freedom and free speech on U.S. college campuses.

I’m sure you’re aware the situation on our campuses has grown increasingly dire.

The already unforgiving one-party political climate on college and university campuses has grown exponentially worse. The few professors who have dared to challenge the precepts of Critical Race Theory or other unquestionable tenets of the leftist narrative have found themselves facing immediate disciplinary action and calls for their termination from the cancel culture mob.

Students on campus fare even worse than faculty in this totalitarian environment.

Many universities maintain elaborate “bias reporting systems” to enable students to snitch on their classmates.

Our nation’s colleges and universities were constructed to be bastions of free and open debate by scholars engaged in the search for truth; instead they have become ideological prisons where the merest stray remark can be cause for expulsion and colleagues and classmates function as Stasi informers to hold the party line.

To fight back we are relying on the most powerful weapon in the Freedom Center arsenal: truth telling.

We issued a report this year – “Top Ten Fascist Colleges and Universities” – exposing the worst offenders of this collegiate climate of censorship.

We targeted those campuses who have instigated disciplinary proceedings or investigations of faculty or students who have dared to challenge leftist narratives and causes.

We targeted those that censor conservative and libertarian speech on campus.

We targeted those campuses that maintain and enforce unconstitutional speech codes that restrict free expression, which should be a foundational principle of higher education.

Then we called on the universities exposed in this report and all institutions of higher learning to immediately rewrite all campus policies and procedures that obstruct constitutional speech. We are urging them to provide redress for all students and faculty who have been illegally silenced or disciplined for their expression.

If they should fail to do so, we will be urging the new Congress to withhold all federal funding until they are willing to bring their policies and actions in line with the Constitution and live up to their promises to protect academic freedom for all.

We must not fail. The socialists who have taken over the schools, major media, big tech, and corporations will move even closer to their dream of a one-party state.

I hope in the paragraphs of this email I have convinced you of the vital work we must do at the David Horowitz Freedom Center next year. And how vital it is that we end this year on our strongest possible financial footing.

You understand we are the one group – in no small part because of my first-hand knowledge of just how dangerous and extreme today’s Left is – that can predict how far the left will go.

What we have witnessed during 2022 has put a focus on the Center’s mission as never before.

Our uniqueness as an organization comes from the fact that we know the Left and know how to fight against it.

With gratitude,

David Horowitz
